I'd never heard of Billie Jauss before, but man! After this book I'll be searching for more of her work! Today I am reviewing her book "Making Room: Doing Less so God can Do More" - the perfect book for burnt out, worn out, perfectionist Christians.
Synopsis:
“What is God doing in and through you?”It’s a question we should all ask ourselves. In Making Room, join a spiritual journey toward the discovery of the reasons behind stagnant faith. Be encouraged to dig deeper, and learn how to put the distractions of life into perspective as you allow God to do more in them and through you. It’s time to embrace all the meaningful life moments God has for you to glorify Him
This book came at the perfect time for me. I was feeling burnt out, worn out and unsatisfied in how things in life were going. Billie's voice is such an authentic breath of fresh air. She is honest and real about her struggles with motherhood, the busyness of life and maintaining connection with God through it all.
I felt seen, heard and validated that what I was going through, I wasn't alone. It was so nice to hear that someone else had the same struggles with me - the busyness of life creeping in and interupting our peace and connection with God. Billie shared openly about her experience as well as practical tips on what she did to help her stay calm, peaceful and connected to God through it all.
Her underlying message - STOP STRIVING TO DO THINGS IN YOUR OWN STRENGTH! I'm sure God will get sick of preaching that message at me one day.... but until then, it was a beautiful, warm reminder of that truth.
We don't have to do things perfectly all the time. The laundry will always exist, your kids will love you anyway. We have enough pressure in life as it is, let's not add more to ourselves.
This is a book I can see myself going back and re-reading frequently in busy seasons. It is an easy read, written very conversationally. I gave it a 4.25/5 stars.
